Ashes to Ashes

It was a cold day on the mountain of Camp Highlander, when Gaynell, Karl and I gathered around the campfire ring to collect the ashes from summers past. With fabulous memories flooding our hearts, we long for the days filled with the laughter of our campers and even the bittersweet tears that follow each closing campfire of the summer.
The ashes were placed in a sealed can to be stored in the summer office, under the badger skin in Gaynell’s office. The can will be opened on the opening campfire to remind us of all the past memories that make the Camp Highlander mountain what it is today. The past ashes will be added to the ashes we will make in 2011. We are really looking forward to the magical memories we will share this summer, and those cherished Sunday campfires where we can reflect on those memories together.
