Karl travels to Marietta, GA for the Alexander Open House

Sunday, January 30th, 2011 | 0 Comments

On Thursday Karl and Jonathan left our mountain to join the Alexander family in their home in Marietta, Georgia. Wendy Alexander is an alumni of Camp Highlander and is so excited that her twins Zoe and Henry will be joining the Highlander family this summer.

Friends gathered to hear about this magical mountain home, Camp Highlander, that Wendy loves so much. The future campers were full of questions about camp and overflowed with excitement about making memories of their own in the summer of 2011.

Wendy prepared a fabulous and delicious meal for the camp show, with the Highlander spirit in mind as she arranged the water bottles and soft drinks in in the shape of CH. This is why a summer at Camp Highlander is so amazing…the friendships you make and the magic you experience stays in your heart forever.

The Hankins Open their Home for a Camp Highlander Movie

Thursday, January 20th, 2011 | 0 Comments

It was a drive-in movie in the back yard of the Hankin home with friends and neighbors who wanted to hear about this magical place in the mountains…Camp Highlander. Fresh popcorn and a great movie…what more can you ask for?

The Hankins have been coming to family camp for a few years and certainly can now call Camp Highlander home. However, it was Joe who was the former camper and wanted his wife Sonia to buy into the camp experience. After a year at Family Camp, she was sold!

This past year Jazzy and Jaden had a blast as campers at Rookie Camp and are now moving up to A session for 2011. One week just wasn’t enough for these kids, and their parents are so excited that Camp Highlander provides this amazing experience for their kids.

Karl Visits the Weiss Family

Thursday, January 20th, 2011 | 0 Comments

Meredith and Rob Weiss, Camp Highlander alumni, hosted a wonderful open house for Camp Highlander. Their sons, Jack and Cameron, enjoyed a magical experience last summer at Camp Highlander and are thrilled to return for 2011.

As the fire burned outside and families roasted marshmallows, Karl was reminded of the fabulous campfires each Sunday night that we share as a Camp Highlander family. We hope that those prospective campers at the show can share in the special memory of campfire for the summer of 2011.

Jack and Cameron were so excited to share stories of their summer at camp with friends and neighbors, and of course they couldn’t stop talking about their Color War experience. Rob was very excited when he received the news last summer by mail that both of his sons were Red Devils, since he was a Red Devil at camp years ago. Meredith on the other hand is a White Knight, so she is the only one in the house with her swords up!

Camp Highlander is the best! Are you signed up yet?

Greaton Open House

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011 | 0 Comments

Karl is on the road again and enjoying sunny Florida. On Monday he joined the Greaton family in Pinecrest for a fantastic show. Campers Morgan and Wilson shared their favorite memories of summers at CH with friends.

Karl wants to thank the moms who attended the open house and for the great questions you asked. Choosing to send your child away for a summer camp experience can be overwhelming and scary, and we want you to feel comfortable with your decision. Camp can be different than home, but after your child’s first few days at Highlander it will be their home away from home. We know that a summer at Camp Highlander will provide wonderful memories for your child, but also countless opportunities to learn and grow as a person.

We look forward to welcoming the friends of the Greaton family for the summer of 2011.

Camp Highlander Reunion 2011

Sterling Family

We had a FANTASTIC turnout of boys and girls at the Camp Highlander reunion yesterday. Karl and Gaynell enjoyed greeting families and campers, especially meeting siblings and future Highlander campers.

It appeared that our girls camp beat boys camp for attendance at the camp reunion, but it was too close to count.
However, the competitions were a tie with the girls winning the trivia and the boys winning the relays. Campers enjoyed visiting with friends, and some walked away with prizes from the annual raffle.

We were so excited that this year we were joined at the reunion by many moms and dads of campers. We really enjoy the opportunity to visit with each of you, get updates on your family, answer questions you may have and share all the exciting things we have in store for the summer of 2011. We even had a mom win a raffle prize too!

Thank you to all the campers, parents and families who joined us at Sugar Sands Park yesterday. We loved seeing all of you and look forward to the best summer at North Carolina’s best summer camp for boys and girls, Camp Highlander.
